Our Mission

The mission of AFRS, Detachment 1 is to inform, influence, and inspire tomorrow's leaders through innovative outreach opportunities. Det 1 focuses on pre-accession audiences (youth, young adult, and influencers) and works with partners to provide pathways to Air Force officer accession sources such as the U.S. Air Force Academy, Reserve Officer Training Corps, and Officer Training School. They are a unique organization focused on bringing the future faster by securing the most talented Americans to service in the 21st century Air Force. AFRS, Det 1 integrates partnerships with agencies both inside and outside of the Air Force to synchronize activates so they can ultimately provide pathways towards accessions across the entire Total Force recruiting enterprise.

GO Inspire

The General Officer (GO) Inspire Program is a diversity outreach initiative for GO's to engage with youth and youth influencers (parents, teachers, coaches, civic/community leaders, etc.) in an effort to increase diversity in the Department of the Air Force's rated community.

For more information on GO Inspire, check out this tri-fold. Units who are hosting a GO Inspire event can get steps on how to document their event in Vector using the instructions explained in the tri-fold and click here for an AAR template.

In addition to GO Inspire engagements, the program also supports the Rated Diversity Improvement (RDI) Strategy. To support this objective senior leaders are encouraged to visit and/or attend career fairs at Minority Serving Institutions (MSI’s). The metric per the RDI is to “conduct a Senior Leader led visit to every MSI by FY25.” A senior leader is considered any General Officer or any G-series order Commander in the grade of 0-5 Lt Col and above.
