Hillary Stonemetz Air Force Recruiting Service RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Air Force Recruiting Service welcomed Chief Master Sgt. William Cavenaugh as their new command chief in an impromptu ceremony here Aug. 25. Cavenaugh replaces Command Chief Master Sgt. Ruben Gonzalez as the AFRS command chief. "I found the next command chief right here at headquarters AFRS," said Brig. Gen. Balan R. Ayyar, AFRS commander. "He has almost 23 years experience in recruiting and will have a powerful voice in the success of this organization. Chief Cavenaugh has lived his whole professional life for this position today." Cavenaugh accepted his new stripes and position then thanked his wife, Kristi, for her support over the years. "Brig. Gen. Ayyar is passionate about the AFRS mission," Cavenaugh said. "I'm excited to contribute to the mission from this position." As the command chief, Cavenaugh is the senior enlisted advisor to the AFRS commander on the accession of qualified men and women to meet the personnel procurement requirements of the Air Force. His responsibilities include enabling the development of the enlisted corps and overseeing the mission effectiveness of enlisted men and women assigned to AFRS across the United States and overseas.
