April Silveira 362nd RCS TUCSON, Ariz. -- The 362nd Recruiting Squadron presented $500 scholarships to two local high school athletes as part of the squadron's first Air Force Invitational event here Sept. 16. The Outstanding Student Award scholarships were given to Jorge Cardenas, Palo Verde Magnet high school senior, and Cody Feehan, Santa Rita high school senior, after the two schools matched off in a football game. Both seniors were selected by their schools to receive the scholarships. The Outstanding Student Award scholarship is given to a senior with the highest cumulative or overall grade point average who is a positive influence on the team. The scholarship money is intended to be used for higher education. Staff Sgt. Benjamin Menez is the recruiter for Palo Verde Magnet high school and Staff Sgt. Kevin Farr is the recruiter for Santa Rita high school. Both recruiters work in the same office, which made the football game fun competition for them as well. Palo Verde Magnet high school won the competition 55 - 38. Master Sgt. Kenneth Gardner, 362nd RCS flight chief, awarded the trophy to Matt Willard, Palo Verdes Magnet high school head coach.
