Tech. Sgt. Bethany L. Lopez, 337th Recruiting Squadron recruiter from Dearborn Mich., joined the Air Force 14 years ago because she was tired of working three jobs and sliding further into debt.

"I was going nowhere and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life," she said. "My mother had been active duty Air Force for six years and was full time Air National Guard. When I decided to join the military, the Air Force was the only choice for me."

Lopez spoke to her local Air Force recruiter and was qualified and able to leave for Basic Military Training in a short amount of time.

"I needed a steady career and I wanted to travel," she said. "I reached both of those goals and achieved more than I ever imagined."

Lopez finds inspiration in seeing her recruits become Airmen.

"To see the change in their demeanor, attitude and confidence makes this job the most rewarding one I have ever had," she said. "It is very fulfilling to know that you are helping to make a difference in someone's life and helping them realize their potential."

Her personal motto is: 'Only you have the power to hold yourself back or to achieve what you want to in life. Anything is possible.'
