David McCarrison 343nd RCS OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- The 343rd Recruiting Squadron welcomed a new commander during a change-of-command ceremony here July 14. Lt. Col. Stephen Polomsky, former Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Air Force Mobility Operations School deputy director, succeeded Lt. Col. Derek Dill, whose next assignment will take him to Hill AFB, Utah as 372nd Recruiting Group deputy group commander. The ceremony was presided over by Col. Michael Vlk, 372nd Recruiting Group commander. "The men and women of the 343rd have a proud tradition of accomplishing the Air Force's recruiting mission across the Great Plains and midwest," Polomsky said of his new squadron. "This is no small task given that the squadron covers 370,000 square miles." "I'm honored to take command of the squadron and look forward to inspiring, engaging and recruiting the brightest, most competitive and diverse man and women for service in America's Air Force," he said. Polomsky is a command pilot and has been an instructor pilot in the KC-135, C-17, T-37 and DA-20. He has recorded combat and combat support time in both the KC-135 and C-17. The 343rd RCS is located on Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., and has 98 personnel with nine flights in an area that includes Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and a small portion of Montana.
