Members of the 339th Recruiting Squadron spent the day here helping a mother move one step closer to realizing her dream -- home ownership.

The recruiting team installed vinyl siding, constructed a new porch, and reinforced an existing porch, donating 40 hours to the future home owner, Amber, who was working with the team each step of the way. All of the team's hours were donated directly to Amber's "sweat equity."

"Prospective home owners are required to invest 500 hours of 'sweat equity' before they are able to purchase a house," said Mike King, Habitat for Humanity construction manager. "Once they have logged 100 hours we allow them to choose a house to purchase. The Air Force team nearly doubled Amber's hours in one day."

"Being able to serve the community we work in is very rewarding. We get to give back and are blessed to see the results of our labor," said Master Sgt. Todd Pryll, Air Force Recruiting Service flight chief in Toledo, Ohio.

Mr. King emphasized the importance of moving quickly on construction sites due to an increase in vandalism in the area.

"We're pushing to finish this project so we can avoid set-backs. Once the home is occupied we no longer have to worry about break-ins and theft. We made great progress today," he said.

The 339th Recruiting Squadron, located in Clinton Township, Mich., covers a 54,000 square-mile area that includes Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.
