Members of the 339th Recruiting Squadron and their families recently spent a Friday afternoon bringing holiday cheer to a local homeless shelter.

The 339th RCS A Flight teamed with administrators from a shelter in Kalamazoo, Ministry with Community, to host a few hours of fun for the approximately 500 daily visitors to the shelter.

The team decided to hold a game of bingo, which was Staff Sgt. Timothy McClelland's idea. He is an enlisted accessions recruiter in Holland, Mich.

The team called numbers, validated winners and donated winter hats and gloves to more than 50 winners. In addition to prizes, the recruiters provided cookies and hot chocolate to the players.

Monika Trahe, Ministry with Community development coordinator, said she was grateful for the group's efforts.

"This simple game of bingo gave our members an outlet -- laughter filled the room. That doesn't happen often, especially around the holidays," she said.

Members of Ministry with Community are afforded the opportunity to do their laundry, take a shower, enjoy a cup of coffee and find support for their recovery.

The 339th Recruiting Squadron, located in Clinton Township, Mich., covers a 54,000 square-mile area which includes Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.
