Recruiting commander sends season's greetings Published Dec. 22, 2009 By Brig. Gen. A.J. Stewart Commander, Air Force Recruiting Service RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- I can't believe 18 months have already passed since I took command and that we are once again in the midst of a holiday season. This is the time of year to look back on our accomplishments, give thanks for our friends and families and to set goals for the coming year. I want to thank each and every one of you for your hard work, dedication, creativity and resolve to ensure we continue recruiting America's best and brightest to serve this great country. Recruiting is a tough business that often keeps us at the office or on the road for countless hours, but we are successful because we have an incredible, all-volunteer Recruiting force. You've demonstrated time and time again that you care deeply about the future of this Air Force and the next generation of American Airmen. Unlike some other assignments where it might be hard to see how you impact the Air Force, in Recruiting the fruits of our labor are visible every day in the recruits and their loved ones whose lives have been changed by their contact with an Air Force recruiter. In this year of the Air Force "Recruiting" Family, be sure to take the time to reflect on all your blessings and to thank your spouses, your children, your friends and your families for their continued support, encouragement and dedication. Without them we could not accomplish all that we do. And while we're enjoying the company of friends and family this holiday season, be sure to remember those currently serving in harm's way and standing vigil defending the freedoms we so enjoy. 2009 was a banner year and I could not be more proud of AFRS! But 2010 is upon us with new challenges and new opportunities. I am supremely confident we will keep the pipeline flowing with the most highly qualified Airmen throughout the year. Finally, please be safe this holiday season. If you're traveling, have a good plan and stick to it ... but watch out for that other guy. No matter how you celebrate the spirit of the season, celebrate safely -- we can't afford to lose a single one of you to injury or accident. Areetha and I wish you a most Joyous Holiday and a very Happy New Year!
