The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Aerial Demonstration Team was in here as the main event in the Puerto Rico Air Show April 18-19, 2009.

The Puerto Rico Air Show took place at the new Ceiba Airport that was formerly the U.S. Navy's Roosevelt Roads Naval Base.

This was the first time that the premiere aerial demonstration team participated in an air show in Puerto Rico in more than 30 years.

The Puerto Rico Air Show was supported by the 333rd Air Force Recruiting Squadron and Air National Guard Recruiting from the 156th Airlift Wing. Airmen answered questions about Air Force careers, benefits and opportunities by curious visitors interested in Air Force opportunities.

The Thunderbirds invited more than 30,000 air show participants to watch 40 of the newest members of the Air Force take the oath of enlistment. The oath of enlistment was administered by Lt. Col. Greg Thomas, the  Thunderbirds commander.

The oath of enlistment is recited by every member of the Air Force not only as a commitment to the Air Force, but a commitment to our nation.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds mission is to represent the pride, precision and professionalism all airman demonstrate -- from their performance at the ground show to the breathtaking aerial maneuvers.
