Milwaukee area hockey fans witnessed a special event Dec. 12 courtesy of the 347th Recruiting Squadron and the American Hockey League's Milwaukee Admirals.

Twenty future Airmen from the Milwaukee area took center ice at the Bradley Arena and publicly pledged their commitment to join the Air Force. Lt. Col Jerome T. Traughber, 347th RCS commander, administered the Oath of Enlistment for the ceremony.

"Right before giving the oath, I asked the audience to join me in witnessing the transformation of these heroes into warrior Airmen," the colonel said. "Over 5,000 people stood up and you could have heard a pin drop in the arena. It was a real touching moment and I think we effectively shared a little about what the Air Force is all about today."

The purpose of the event was not only to entertain, but also to generate Air Force awareness within the local community. Colonel Traughber thanked the Milwaukee Admirals for making the event successful.

"The Milwaukee Admirals are one of the most positive organizations we work with in this area," he said. "Several team officials came up afterward and thanked us profusely for coming. We look forward to working with this outstanding team again for this type of event."
