Florida recruiters use sporting events to promote Air Force Published Dec. 7, 2007 By By Staff Sgt. Jeff Storman 333rd Recruiting Squadron MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The 333rd Recruiting Squadron left a very visible footprint on several major Florida sporting events during November. On Nov. 4, nearly 30 new airmen enlisted into the Delayed Enlistment Program during a Tampa Bay Buccaneers halftime ceremony, along with other recruits joining sister services. The swear-in was part of the Buccaneers' Military Appreciation Day during a game with the Arizona Cardinals. Maj. Gen. Steven J. Hashem, director of the Center for Knowledge & Futures, Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base, led the enlistment oath. ''This is an incredible honor for me to be here today to induct these young men and women into the armed forces of the United States," General Hashem said. ''We've got a great country and we've got great youth." The following week, the Miami Dolphins hosted the Buffalo Bills and honored the military during a Veterans Administration sponsored Veterans' Day event for America's military heroes. Men and woman of the armed services stretched a giant U.S. flag covering the entire field during a pre-game ceremony. Air Force Lt. Col. Deborah Crowder, U.S. Southern Command, sang the national anthem and members from the 333rd RCS presented the colors. The Dolphins also provided sideline seating for many of the military members involved in the ceremony. As November ended, so did NASCAR's Nextel Cup series. At Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 18, several Miami-area youth recited the oath of enlistment led by General Michael V. Hayden, director of the Central Intelligence Agency. General Hayden expressed his pride in their decision to become a military member. When he asked each of them why they joined the Air Force, their answers expressed a great love of country with a strong desire to serve. The 333rd RCS finished as the top overall squadron in Air Force Recruiting Service for fiscal year 2007.
