Air Force Recruiting Service is getting a system upgrade after 12 years of using the current system. In 2002, AFRS rolled out the Air Force Recruiting Information Support System-Legacy (AFRISS). This system allowed recruiters to increase production while decreasing paperwork.

AFRISS Total Force (AFRISS TF) is the replacement system for the current AFRISS-Legacy system in use. AFRISS TF will provide automated processing capabilities for Air Force active duty, Reserve and Air National Guard component recruiters.

AFRISS TF developers, Lockheed Martin, is providing initial training to 122 selected recruiters in the field from April 8-10 at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Recruiters will be trained on system operations and user interfaces.

The training plan for AFRISS TF consists of training the 122 AFRS members; in turn, these members will provide training to members of their unit and serve in a help desk capacity for answering questions from unit members. Training provided by Lockheed Martin will be recorded and loaded to RICky in small segments of instruction, such as how to load a lead, how to schedule school visits, etc.

AFRISS TF is expected to be fully functional and in every recruiting office by June 2014. AFRISS-Legacy and AFRISS R (used by health professions recruiters) will be turned off and all data will be migrated to the new system. There are no expected delays, but with any new computer program we must remember to remain patient and report all program errors through the chain of command.

AFRISS TF will be able to complete any task that AFRISS Legacy now completes. Some of the added benefits are the ability to store documents within the system, for example, you will be able to upload source documents and forward to the Military Entrance Processing Station through AFRISS TF - no more fax copies! There will also be an off-line capability so users can load data while not connected to the internet and upload when they can connect.
