Law Day celebration

Air Force Recruiting Service Staff Judge Advocate Lt. Col. Karen Rhone states the Oath of Enlistment during a ceremony today on Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. National Law Day, held annually May 1, celebrates the rule of law, of which, in 1789, the first session of the first Congress enacted the first U.S. law establishing the Oath of Office for civilian and military offices. Brig. Gen. Suzanne Vautrinot, AFRS commander, administered the oath during the ceremony. Lieutenant Colonel Rhone's father, OB Hearne, a World War II veteran, had the honors of helping his daughter pin on her new rank in a hometown ceremony April 29 in Loving, Texas.
