Bubba Gump drops in
189th Airlift Wing
Video by Staff Sgt. Matthew Pelkey
May 15, 2016 | 7:10
B-roll package with interviews. Ride along on an Air National Guard C-130 air drop training mission with the 189th Airlift Wing in Arkansas. Every day the Arkansas Air National Guard wing drops training loads as part of the unit's C-130 H formal training unit mission. Many of the heavy pallets are painted with familiar, topical and interesting themes. One special heavy training pallet was hand-painted by members of the 189th Logistics Readiness Squadron with scenes from the movie Forrest Gump in honor of actor Gary Sinise. Sinise was visiting the Little Rock Air Force Base April 29 as part of the Lt. Dan Band concert tour, and personally signed the pallet. Early on the morning of May 14, the special pallet was part of an air drop training mission. Here's a look at the Arkansas Air National Guard's well-oiled machine from the loading of the pallet to the actual air drop. Includes interviews with the artists. More
