The 152nd Airlift Wing, Nevada Air National Guard, introduced a new commander Saturday.

Col. Jacob Hammons, an F-16 pilot, replaced Reno-native Col. Eric Wade during a change of command ceremony at the Nevada Air National Guard Base Fuel Cell Hanger.

The 152nd includes 1,016 Airmen, about three-quarters serving as traditional guardsmen that serve as a reserve force in support of overseas missions and within the states during disaster response and wild land firefighting

Hammons is the 22nd commander in the unit’s 71-year history. He came to the Air Guard earlier this year after serving 18 years in the active duty Air Force, including time as a Thunderbird pilot. Hammond was a distinguished graduate of the US. Air Force Academy, and has flown more than 500 combat hours over Afghanistan.
