“For contingency operations, we may need additional personnel to post out. So, we train them up, just as we train our security forces people to take a post. These people aren’t security forces so they don’t know what we do on a daily basis so giving them this knowledge they’re actually getting a little additional information on what we do and then they can go out and actually do it. Training augmentees to basically be security forces, to better themselves, to understand the knowledge and the training we go through on a day to day basis. Like, they obviously love going through like the combatives portion or the asp portion where they actually get to get hands on and actually be a part of like what we do.”
SOUNDBITE: SrA Ryan Lewis, Augmentee(RT: 00:55:26)
“I get to experience a completely different culture outside of my own little bubble that I’m in being an admin troop. Like, give me an understanding of what OSI and Security Forces and their augmentee normally go through. Because I’m in the UCC I don’t actually get to go and be an augmentee so this I feel has given me a more rounded perspective as to what actually happens. I work for Security Forces so I feel like it gave me a better understanding as to what I may not necessarily see every day.”
SOUNDBITE: SrA Robert Zerby, Instructor (RT:01:27:27 )
“I hope that more people would want to come out and be part of the augmentee program”
SOUNDBITE: SrA Ryan Lewis (RT:01:31:28)
“Whoever wants to go through it can.”
