2016 Cattle Drive
97th Air Mobility Wing
Video by Airman 1st Class James Johnson
Aug. 29, 2016 | 1:06
It's that time of the year again on Altus Air Force Base. It's August and the Cattle Drive is making its way through the installation. This long standing tradition of herding long horn cattle on base is a unique look at the pride of Oklahoma and the surrounding community's involvement.

Chief Philip Eckenrod - 97th Air Mobility Command Chief
"It's phenomenal, it really shows how the community embraces the airmen here at Altus and the relationship that we have here is probably the best community relation in the air force."

Airmen and their families came out to see this extraordinary sight. It's not ever day they get to see longhorns, horses, and cowboys on base.

Colonel Bryan Wood - Operations Group Commander
"Nowhere else in the air force have I seen something like this. It's a great event and as you can tell the base gets up for it and it's a good time so ... we enjoy it."

And here at Altus, every day is an opportunity to see life from a new perspective and experience life in someone else's cowboy boots. Reporting for Altus Air Force Base, I'm Airman James Johnson.
