Southwest Asia's Deployed Working Dogs
379th Air Expeditionary Wing
Video by Senior Airman Renee Carberry
March 16, 2012 | 1:23
Military Working Dogs Handlers and their working dogs train while being deployed, just as they would at home station. The ideal, "You fight like you train," is something instilled in service members throughout their career. The same is true for military working dog handlers and their K-9 counterparts. Each day is spent working on obedience training, bite work, and patrolling the base. Although thousands of miles from home-station, deployed handlers understand the importance of the necessary training to keep their partner alert. The bond between a handler and their dog goes far beyond consistently training...it's a lasting connection. Reporting from Southwest Asia, I'm Senior Airman Renée Carberry. Soundbite includes SSgt. Kieran Gibson - USAF, Military Working Dog Handler and TSgt. Jeremy Fowler - USAF, Kennel Master - MWD. Produced by SrA. Renee Carberry. Also available in High Definition. More
