Command Chief of the Air National Guard Visits 180th Fighter Wing
180th Fighter Wing Ohio National Guard
Video by Tech. Sgt. George Wolfe
Jan. 15, 2014 | 1:58
B-2 Bombers were the only option for the president. No notice. We had no notice. We woke up, missiles were aimed, the next day they were fueling them up, what do we do? Where are the B-2s stationed? Whiteman Air Force Base. Where is Whiteman Air Force Base? Missouri, Where is Missouri at? In the middle of the country. Middle of the country, and oh, by the way, even though those are B-2s, did you know the Air National Guard has an association with that B-2? The 131st Bomb Wing, Air National Guard. So we launch two B-2 Bombers, they fly across the globe, half way around the world and, can they do that on a single tank of gas? Probably not. Who owns the Air Refueling Mission? The Air National Guard, right? The vast majority of it. They drop two dummy bombs on the South Korean side, turn around and fly home in 20 something hours later and land back at Whiteman.

Folks, no other Air Force in the world can do what we do. And that mission was accomplished, no notice, no practice, no anything, and all three components played a part. Active, Guard and Reserve played a part in that mission, in the defense of our nation. That’s our Air Force. That’s your Air Force. That’s something to be very proud of. The next 10 countries combined to not possess the capabilities of your United States Air Force.
