A Year of Collaboration and Community: 319th ERS Relocates to Kadena Air Base (Japanese Subtitles)
374th Airlift Wing
Video by Senior Airman Manuel Zamora
Nov. 21, 2023 | 5:55
After a year of community engagement and operations, the 319th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron began relocating to Kadena Air Base from Japan Maritime Self Defense Force Kanoya Air Base on October 13th, 2023. An agreement made between the United States and the Government of Japan states that Kanoya Air Base would only house the unit for 1 year from the beginning of operations.

This shift to operations out of Kadena Air Base will ensure continued U.S. intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance supporting operations and requests of our allies and partners in the 319th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron. The 319th ERS worked hand in hand with their Japan Maritime Self Defense Force brethren to help bolster the citizens of Kanoya’s reception of the U.S. military presence in their community. Events, including beach cleanups, rice planting, English teaching, and PACAF Band concerts, have all contributed to building a stronger U.S.-Japan alliance.
