60 in 60: The Year of the KC-10 Extender
60th Air Mobility Wing
Video by Nicholas Pilch
Dec. 1, 2022 | 1:00
This is the year of the KC-10 Extender, a key Air Mobility Command advanced tanker and cargo aircraft, which arrived at Travis Air Force Base in 1994.

In its final year of service, we’re celebrating the achievements of the Extender, the community surrounding it and applauding its service since 1981.

It can haul 170 thousand pounds of cargo, 356 thousand pounds of fuel, and carry up to 75 passengers.

Here at Travis, the 6th and 9th Air Refueling Squadrons, and the 660th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron have been reliable in keeping Gucci in the skies – supporting over 12 major operations.

Over the next year, the inventory will reduce as we sincerely say, goodbye.

A big thank you to the KC-10 Extender and its community for rapidly projecting American power … anytime, anywhere.

Trust Travis, Let’s go!
