Carl Edwards is one of many drivers on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit, but when the driver of No. 99 Office Depot car stops in Greenwood, Neb., he lands rock star status.

Greenwood is home to I-80 Speedway, located 40 miles west of Omaha. I-80 Speedway is also Mr. Edward's home track, so when he scheduled an appearance July 12, the 343rd Recruiting Squadron "Wolfpack" raced at the chance to join the event.

Arriving with the Air Force Suburban, decked out with an X-box and Guitar Hero, and the F-350, the Wolfpack secured a prime location inside the gates to greet race fans upon their arrival. The event theme, "Above All," and the 343rd RCS' enthusiasm ensured fans knew the Air Force was on track.

The Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard started the night by posting the colors with Staff Sgt. Clint Whitney of the Heartland of America Band singing the National Anthem. The crowd's excitement soared when a KC-135 from the 55th Wing, Offutt AFB, passed low over the speedway.

Mr. Edwards showed his appreciation for the Air Force by signing autographs and posing for photos with 343rd RCS members in his pit area.

Overall the event proved extremely successful for the Wolfpack, promoting the Air Force mission and its many job opportunities to Greenwood's NASCAR fans.
