Executive Director, Headquarters, Air Force Accessions Center

Mr. Romero is the Executive Director, Headquarters, Air Force Accessions Center (AFAC), Joint Base San Antonio- Randolph, TX.  The Air Force Accessions Center oversees the Department of the Air Force’s largest officer and enlisted accession sources, including the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, Reserve Officer Training Corps, Officer Training School, and Warrant Officer Training School. The Center is comprised of 6,315 military and civilian personnel who are responsible for the training and leadership development of 98,640 cadets at 1,012 locations worldwide and for accessing more than 45,000 individuals annually.

Mr. Romero retired from active duty in November 2014 after 25 years serving in a variety of flying and staff positions at the squadron, group, wing, and Joint level. Mr. Romero received his commission in 1989 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps, Central Washington University, Ellensburg Wash. He began his flying career in the C-141B until 1995 when he transitioned to the MC-130H Combat Talon II. His flying assignments include McGuire AFB, N.J., Kadena AB, Japan, Kirtland AFB, N.M., Hurlburt Field, FL, and as the deployed squadron commander for the 16th Expeditionary Special Operations Squadron in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. His staff assignments include Headquarters, US Special Operations Command, as air operations officer and chief of operations for USSOCOM’s Interagency Task Force, MacDill AFB, FL as well as Chief, Wing Plans, 1st Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, FL. His AFRS assignments include, squadron commander, 345th Recruiting Squadron, Scott AFB, IL, Chief, IG Inspections Branch, HQ AFRS, Chief, Plans and Resources, HQ AFRS, and Vice Commander, AFRS. Prior to his current position, he was the Director of Staff and Executive Director, Air Force Recruiting Service, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, TX.
