COLONEL JOHNATHAN M. “KASINO” ARTIS

Col Johnathan M. Artis is the commander, 369th Recruiting Group, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. His area of responsibility includes one Officer Accessions recruiting squadron, one Special Warfare/Combat Support recruiting squadron and eight Enlisted Accessions recruiting squadrons including 20 Military Entrance Processing Stations, 453 geographically separated recruiting officers, a $22.5M annual budget, and 1,022 active duty and civilian personnel dispersed throughout the United States, Caribbean, USAFE, and PACAF regions.

Colonel Artis received his commission into the Acquisition Corps in 2002 through the University of North Texas’ Reserve Officer Training Corps program concurrent with a Bachelor of Applied Arts Science in Business from Midwestern State University. As a junior officer, he has held various assignments in the acquisitions career field including aircraft, subsystems, weapons, intelligence, and international programs. Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Artis served as the Director, Combat Support Center, Defense Contract Management Agency, Ft Gregg-Adams Virginia.
