LIEUTENANT COLONEL ANDREW D. ATKINSON

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew D. Atkinson is the Commander, 333d Recruiting Squadron, headquartered at Patrick SFB, Florida. As the commander, he is responsible for eight flights and approximately 105 military and civilian personnel throughout central and southern Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, covering an area of 36,000 square miles.


Lt Col Atkinson received his commission in 2008 from the University of Virginia. He has served in a variety of roles at the squadron, wing, and MAJCOM levels. His career as an Operations Analyst has spanned assignments in test and evaluation, the Air Force Research Lab, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, and Special Operations Joint Task Force Central. He is a published author in peer-reviewed journals within the Operations Research literature.
Most recently, Lt Col Atkinson served as the Deputy Director and Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, leading the core calculus course for 750 officer candidates.
