COLONEL THOMAS F. WEGNER

Col Thomas F. Wegner is the AFRS/A1/4 Chief, Manpower, Personnel, and Logistics, Headquarters Air Force Recruiting Service, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas.  As Chief, he leads all manpower and personnel actions directing assignments and personnel actions for more than 2,890 Active Duty and Civilian personnel dispersed across all 50 states, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Pacific.  In addition, Col Wegner oversees the selection of approximately 400 new recruiters annually.  Col Wegner also oversees the AFRS logistics portfolio and is responsible for the largest GSA vehicle fleet in the DAF, coordinating with the Army Corps of Engineers on real estate requirements for over 1000 worldwide recruiting offices, and ensuring those recruiting offices meet all anti-terrorism and force protection requirements.

Col Wegner was born in Topeka, KS.  He graduated from Angelo State University in 1991 and worked in Information Technology at General Telco Federal Credit Union until 1993 when he enlisted in the Air Force as a Security Policeman.  He worked for San Antonio Armed Forces Police, at the time, the only town patrol in the continental United States and was deployed to Panama for Operation Safe Haven.  In 1997 Col Wegner left active duty to become a police officer for Universal City, TX.  He was an Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) for the Air Force Reserves and answered the call for security forces reservists to return to active duty in 1999.  He earned his commission in 2000.
